Hi all. I should be very grateful if you would answer two questions: what gifts do you prefer to get and what gifts do you hate? I need it for article Gift Ideas for Capricorn. Thank you.
I hate getting gifts, it makes me feel indebted. Stuff I can use is usually best though, I got a beard trimmer last year and it was the only gift I was excited about.
I don't like gifts because I don't like material suprises. You know, winning trips or people stopping by is great, I just don't like not knowing what someone spent hard-earned money on and worrying if it was a waste.
That said, I don't like to receive anything I haven't asked for, and I don't like to receive half-ass editions of things I've asked for. Like if I ask for a Snap On tool set, don't you dare get me a Craftsman because I'll make you take it back.
So. Money is always good, although impersonal. Gift cards to my favourite places to shop are alright, as well as to my favourite restaurants. In fact, free food is always a good choice. Books are good especially if they're best sellers or slightly educational. Or Sci-Fi. Don't buy clothes. If you made something, that's cool. Made stuff is great like scarves, hats, sweaters(maybe), paintings, drawings, but not pointess crafts that aren't really show-off-able. Like things made with painted pieces of wood, corn husk, and twine that say "Happy Home" with chickens or dollies. Ew. No. Useful stuff is always good if I can actually use it and it's high-quality, not the generic crap. I'd rather have nothing at all than something crappy.
Summary:
Good --------- *Food/Drink *Money/Gift Cards *Books *Art/Stuff You Made *High-End Useful Electronics *Plants
Bad --------- *Crafts *Generic Electronics *Clothes *Porcelain ANYTHING *Plants
I feel awkward receiving gifts unless it's from my mother. It makes me feel embarassed and indebted. I normally treat myself to gifts though. I buy cd's, nice clothes, new make up, books, alcohol paraphernalia, all kinds of girly stuff.
To make it simple, just give a Capricorn money or a gift card. So we can treat ourselves, like I do.
I get great pleasure from giving gifts and I enjoy receiving, as well. However, gifts that show no thought to the recipient annoy me. Gifts that are given to show their cost or value don't impress me, either. As a matter of fact what the previous respondents are probably hinting at is that as Capricorns we don't like people spending A LOT of money on us. Who wouldn't want a simple, tasteful and thoughtful gift?
What I think we don't like, as I said, is something extravagant and expensive. Those ads where people have a Lexus sitting in the driveway on Christmas morning? That won't impress a Capricorn. We'll buy the Lexus ourselves thank you very much. We like things of quality, but we prefer to purchase the finer things ourselves. I'll buy an Hermes scarf myself but please don't ever think of giving me one as a gift; I'll feel terrible about it. To complicate it, never ever give a Capricorn a knock-off or cheap quality items.
That's the Catch-22 with gifting a Capricorn: we definitely want to acquire the finer things in life, but we don't like them to be given to us.
Gift ideas for a Capricorn? I think it depends more on the hobbies and interests of the recipient rather than birth sign. Where our birth sign might come into play is with ambition, organization and practicality that are traits commonly associated with Capricorns.
To put it in easier terms, I recently purchased a webcam as a gift. Prices ranged from under $15 to over $100. What did I select? Something in the middle - $60.
Overall there is a common theme in the responses here. What it comes down to is showing some thought rather than money and if you are going to give something, generic and store brand is generally not a good thing but don't ever try to impress us with dollars spent.
hmm that's toughie. I love getting gifts cause I love to unwrap things, so pretty much you can get me anything. Im a girly girl so its not too hard. However, I must admidt that I have been given some shitty gifts. I hate things that are impractical and i have no use for it. I like it when I get something that I can use. Like, it needs to serve some sort of purpose.
You just need to keep in mind that the more thought you put into your gift the better it will be. Who really cares what you get after all? Christmas has been so transformed over the years that its nuts.
I enjoy receiving gifts only if they're thoughtful and practical. I hate it when somebody tries to give me something that has no use. Also, I feel awkward if the giver is watching me open it. I wonder what my expression will be. As a pessimist, I assume that the gift probably will be something that I won't like very much, and I think about how to tell the giver that I don't like it. It's easier with my mom because she always reassures me that her feelings won't be hurt by saying, "If you don't like it, exchange it or return it. I just thought it was cool." I've received some very nice things from people, but I was most happy when my mom came home with a new, soft-bristle toothbrush and quality floss. :D My brother's a Cap and I gave him a memory foam lumbar support pillow for his truck seat on his birthday. He loves it. ^^

Or write a twisted song about us :)
